Abstract
Objective: To investigate the effects of short-term insulin glargine on plasma glucose, and the change of beta-cell function and insulin resistance in Primary type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients. Method : 36 newly diagnosed T2DM cases complicated with fasting plasma glucose (FPG)≥11.1 mmol/L ,were treated with glargine insulin around 22:00 each day and regular human insulin before lunch and dinner each day . After two weeks the patients were followed by the withdrawal of medicine. Result: The excellent control of plasma glucose was achieved after 2 weeks treatment with glargine insulin. Beta-cell function was dramatically improved. The secretion index of insulin and C-peptide curve area as well as Homa-β were sign were obviously increased during OGTF. Re-examined patients stopped using of medicine for at most four months,whose plasma glucose could be controlled only by controlling of diet and exercise. Conclusion: The excellent glucose control, improvement of beta-cell function, and amelioration of insulin resistance can be induced by short-term glargine treatment in Primary type 2 diabetic patients.关键词
