The Status of Precision Agriculture in Japan

摘要

Abstract

As a knowledge-based system that integrates many advanced technologies such as global positioning system (GPS), geographic information system (GIS), variable rate technology (VRT) and yield mapping, precision agriculture has emerged as a promising sustainable development way that could increase agricultural productivity with environmental stewardship by optimizing inputs such as fertilizers,pesticides,water,seeds and others, to gain the greatest return to the producer and the least impact on the environment. It is a necessary outcome of agricultural development. This paper reviewed the current state of the art of precision agriculture in Japan. And also, the paper presented some thoughts and proposals on the research and development of precision agriculture in China.
