Abstract
To determine the osteoinductive potential of β-TCP／rhBMP-2 composite，the β-TCP／rhBMP-2 composite was obtained by combining Beta-tricalcium phosphate （β-TCP） prepared with recombinant human morphogenetic protein-2 （rhBMP-2）and was implanted into muscle pouches in the thigh of mice. β-TCPalone was implanted on the opposite site as controls.At intervals of 24 and 72 hours and 1，2，4 and 8 weeks after the implantation，the specimens were obtained，and histologic study and alkaline phosphatase assay（1，2，4 weeks）were performed.It was found that there was a large amount of new cartilage and bone formation within the composite，and incereasing with time.Meanwhile，there was no new bone formation where β-TCP alone was implanted.The levels of alkaline phosphatase in the β-TCP／rhBMP-2 implants also were increasing with time and were higher than those in controls （P＜0.001）.The results suggest that β-TCP／rhBMP-2 possesses heterotopic osteoinductive potential.关键词
