Abstract

Adsorption properties of simulated radionuclide Cs+ in hydrated paste powder (HPP) from alkali-activated slag -clay composite cementitious material (AASCM) and the factors influencing them were studied and the adsorption property of HPP from AASCM was compared with those from portland cement (PC), aluminate cement (AC) and portland blast-furnace slag cement (PSC). The results reveal that, under the experimental conditions, the Cs+ adsorption capacity in HPP from AASCM increases and its distribution ratio decreases with the increase of initial Cs+ concentration. The adsorption equilibrium time shortens and the adsorption capacity and distribution ratio decrease with the increase of the temperatures. Within a certain range of initial Cs+ concentration, the adsorption isothermal curve of Cs+ in HPP from AASCM conforms to the Freundlich formula, and the adsorption process is exothermal. The adsorption capacity decreases with the decrease of pH values. Cesium ion adsorption in HPP from AASCM is more powerful than those from PC, AC or PSC.
