A Study of High Temperature Desulfurization and Regeneration Using Iron-Calcium Oxides in a Fixed-Bed Reactor

Abstract
Coal is the most abundant fossil energy in the world. We arefacing with an important task about how to increase coal utilization efficiency and in the mean time to control environmental pollution. Advanced integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) and molten carbonate fuel cell (MCFC) are emerging as viable methods for more efficient and cleaner power generation. Development of technologies for efficient removal of H2S from coal derived fuel gas is now recognized as to be crucial to the economics of coal utilization in the IGCC and MCFC processes. The problem of high temperature coal gas desulfurization technology is the powdering of desulfurizer which considerably prevents industrial application. In this paper, iron-calcium complex oxides desulfurizer were studied and developed, and desulfurization and regeneration behaviors with various Fe2O3/CaO mole ratio were investigated in a fixed-bed reactor. The results showed that multiple sulfidation-regeneration cycles behavior can be better performed with mole ratio of Fe2O3/CaO=1. Sulfided sorbents can be completly regenerated with H2O and O2. H2S releasing is prior to SO2, pure sulfur was simultaneously formed. Desulfurization performance and mechanical strength maintained steady, and more over sulfur capacity gradually increased after three sulfidation and regeneration cycles.关键词
