Abstract

The 1 200/125-t bridge crane in the left power house of Three Gorges Project is at present the largest one of its kind at home and abroad in terms of its lifting capacity for a single hook.The crane is used for installation,operating maintenance and repair of 14 large-sized hydrogenerator units with per-unit rated output of 700 MW in the left power house.This paper presents its properties and structural characteristics and application of new technologies.For example,a hinged structure with minimum height is adopted both to uniformly stress wheels of the bridge crane and to reduce the height of the bridge crane;in electric drive,an energy-regenerative(feedback-type) speed regulation scheme with frequency converted on common direct current busbars is adopted,resulting in eliminating braking electric resistances.The new structure and new technologies adopted in the 1 200/125-t bridge crane can be used for reference in design and manufacture of other large and medium-sized bridge cranes in the future.
