Expressions of P53 and apoptosis in normal cervix，CIN and squamous cell carcinoma tissues

Abstract
Aim：To probe the expressions of apoptosis and P53 gene in cervical intraepithelia neoplasia and squamous cell carcinoma.Methods： The apoptotic labeling indices(A-LI)，PCNA(proliferating cell nuclear antigen)-LI，P53-LI and the positive expression of P53 protein were observed in 15 cases of normal cervical epithelia, 14 cases of CINⅠ, 10 cases of CINⅡ,20 cases of CINⅢ and 52 cases of ISCC (invasive squamous cervical carcinoma) tissues, using DNA nick end labeling technique and immunohistochemical staining for PCNA and P53 proteins. Results：No apoptotic cell was observed in normal cervical epithelium, A-LI increased with CINⅠ→ CINⅡ→CINⅢ(P<0.05), A-LI in ISCC were significantly lower than those in CIN(P<0.01). PCNA-LI gradually increased with the development of every lesion grade of cervical carcinomas (P<0.05).P53 protein was not detected in normal cervical epithelia and CIN I, but a few in CINⅡ, and P53-LI in CINⅢ were significantly lower than those in ISCC(P<0.01). Conclusion: During the development of cervical carcinoma ,apoptosis may play an important role, and the regulation of P53 protein might block apoptosis.关键词
