Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the clinical effect of unilateral multifunctional external fixation frame in treating the humeral shaft fracture. Methods: From June 1993 to December 1999,116 cases of humeral shaft fracture were applied with the unilateral multifunctional external fixation frames. Results:88 of them had been followed up for 6 months to 7 years (3.8 years in average). The average course of fracture healing needed 4.3 months and the healing rate was 94.32%. The upper extremity function got satisfactory recovery. Conclusion: Treatment of humeral shaft fracture with unilateral multifunctional external fixation frame should be in conformity with the principle of biological fixation. This can not only reduce the injury of fracture region and protect its blood supply but also firmly fix the fractures so that the early functional exercise is possible. The method might have the great advantages to the open fracture with severely injured soft tissue.关键词
