Abstract
Sebei gas field is located in Qaidam Basin in Qinghai and has an average sea level of 2,700 m. The surface of this gas field is covered with a salina and no vegetation can be found in this area. Wells drilled in this gas field have encountered several kinds of downhole problems such as severe tight hole, drag and pipe sticking during trip, saltwater cut, frequent mud losses, difficulties in well logging and low ROP etc. Field analysis and laboratory study showed that the formation saltwater has a high salinity and can be used in formulating polymer drilling fluids. One inhibitive polymer drilling formulated with the formation water was used successfully in drilling the Quaternary salt formations, remarkably minimizing the downhole problems encountered previously.关键词
