Abstract
Cerium dioxide (CeO2) nanoparticles were prepared by a novel and simple ultrasonic auto automization process using low-cost cerous nitrate (Ce(NO3)3·6H2O), ammonium acid carbonate (NH4HCO3) and sodium hydroxide (NaOH) as starting materials. Mist drops of solutions were generated and used as space-confined mieroreactors for the nucleation, growth and crystallization of CeO2 nanoparticles under room temperature conditions. The techniques of X-ray powder diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectros-copy and transmission electron microscopy were used to characterize the obtained samples. The results show that CeO2 nanoparticles with small particle size and narrow size distributions can be prepared by the ultrasonic automization process. The sizes of CeO2 parti-cles prepared using NaOH as precipitant are smaller (about 3 nm) and more uniform than those prepared using NH4HCO3.关键词
