Abstract
This paper first introduces the background of knowledge discovery and depicts the development of it as well as the knowledge type and database used in knowledge discovery. After that it introduces the application of knowledge discovery in various areas: agriculture, medicine, environmental protection, chronometer, finance, retail, military and Internet.
