Abstract
TThe tapping panel dryness (TPD) in Hevea brasiliensis associated with wounds in the roots was investigated by using light microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The results showed that the prime symptoms of the TPD include laticifer necrosis and cambium-like meristem formation that occurs around the necrotic laticifer in the inner bark.The activities of the cambium-like meristem present in the early affected trees lead to formation of the deformed bark of the trees in the late stage of the disease. New necrotic laticifers with cambium-like meristem continue to form in the inner bark and this makes the disease become irreversible.关键词
