Abstract
Objective To explore the significance of apoptotic cells inendemic goiter.Methods DNA nick end labeling method was used to measure the amounts of apoptptic cells in the diseassd tissues of thyroid and then to count the apoptptic index,expressed as a percentage of the TUNEL-positive cells in total number of tissue cells.Results AI in 25 endemic goiter,43 thyroid carcinoma,15 thyroid adnoma and 11 adjacent tissues of thyroid carcinoma were (9.81±4.36)%,(17.73±6.62)%,(12.43±3.69)%,(11.37±6.96)%,respectively.The AI of carcinoma tissues was the highest thyroid tissues among the diseased thyroid tissues and higher than that in endemic goiter(P＜0.01).The AI of endemic goiter,thyroid adnoma and adjacent tissues of thyroid carcinoma were no statistical significance (P ＞0.05).Conclusion The balance between apoptosis and proliferation may play an important role for the pathogenesis of endemic goiter.关键词
