Abstract
Aim: To assess the clinical significance of the colorectal cancer cells in peripheral blood with reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR）.Methods:47 patients with colorectal cancer in different Dukes stages were examined the expression of cytokeretin 20(CK20) in cancer cells in the peripheral blood chosen by RT-PCR,which was compared with that of the tissue of colorectal cancer (20 cases).Results：In the normal person,the CK20 mRNA expression in peripheral blood had not been revealed,but the positivity rate of CK20 mRNA (in peripheral blood of patients with colorectal cancer) was 40.4%(19/47)，and those in patients with Dukes stage B,C,D were 25.0%(5/20)，41.2%(7/17) and 87.5%(7/8)，respectively (P＜0.05).The positivity rate of CK20 mRNA in patients with hepatic metastasis was 87.5%(7/8),while 30.8%(12/39)in patients without hepatic metastasis (P＜0.01).Conclusion:CK20 may be a tumor marker for detecting colorectal cancer cell in peripheral blood as well as tumor relapse and metastasis.关键词
