Abstract
Objective :To investigate the clinical value of serum free PSA/total PSA (f/t PSA) ratio and complexed PSA (cPSA) in diagnosis of prostate cancer (Pca) and their ability to discriminate between Pca and benignprostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in patients with intermediate PSA levels of 4.0 ～ 10.0 ng/ml. Methods :The serum total PSA (tPSA) levels of 28 Pca patients and 33 BPH patients were first measured using the enzyme linked fluorescent immunoassay. If the PSA levels were between 4.0 and 10.0 ng/ml, free PSA values were measured and cPSA values were calculated. Then we assayed the clinical role of tPSA, f/t PSA ratio and cPSA. Results :The f/t PSA ratio showed statistically significant difference (P ＜0.01 ) between Pca and BPH patients and enhanced the specificity in detecting Pca. However, there were no significant differences for cPSA in both groups of patients with tPSA levels between 4.0 and 10.0 ng/ml. Conclusions:The f/t PSA ratio outperformed tPSA, and cPSA performed equivalently to tPSA for discriminating of Pca and BPH in patients with tPSA levels of 4.0 ～ 10.0 ng/ml.关键词
