Establishment of new model in rat of combined liver/small bowel transplantation and investigation of immuno-protective effect of liver on small bowel

Abstract
Objective: To develop a new model in rat of combined liver/small bowel transplantation and to investigate the protective effect of the transplanted liver on transplanted small bowel. Methods:In the course of donor operation, inferior vena cava in chest was cut to construct a muff in the lateral wall of portal vein and cuff was placed.In recipient operation, portal veins of donor and recipient were connected using cuff technique and rearterialization was completed by anastomosing the superior mesenteric artery of graft with right kidney artery of the recipient. The assess of acute rejection was through pathology. Results: The hepatic phase of recipient was equal to that in Kamadas method for liver transplantation with a relative less hemodynamic changes and with a high survival rate. The transplanted small intestine showed a less serious rejection in combined liver/small bowel transplantation than in isolated small bowel transplantation. Conclusions:This technique for establishing simultaneous liver and small bowel transplantation rat model is feasible and transplanted liver can protect transplanted small bowel from rejection.关键词
