Modeling and Control of a Continuously Variable Transmission System with Metal Pushing Belt

Abstract
By studying the transmission mechanism and ratio changing characteristics of a metal pushing belt type of continuously variable transmission (CVT) system, a bond graph model was established, and the state-space equation of a CVT system was derived. On the basis of improving the ratio change responsiveness and reducing the engine torque response lag in normal control, a new control algorithm was developed. By analyzing the engine drive torque characteristics and the powerunit inertia torque under the transient condition of the changing ratio, the compensation value for engine drive torque was obtained which was proportional to the differential of ratio. The simulation result showed that using this compensation control algorithm could reduce the engine torque response lag and improve the drive torque response effectively.关键词
