GROWTH AND CHARACTERISTICS OF MAGNESIUM-DOPED NEAR-STOICHIOMETRIC LITHIUM NIOBATE CRYSTAL

Abstract
An magnesium(MgO)-doped near-stoichiometric lithium niobate crystal(MgO:SLN) of 40 mm in diameter and 60 mm in length was grown by an improved Czochralski technique from a 58.5% (in molar fraction,the same below) Li melt doped with 2% MgO in a platinum crucible.The concentration of Nb5+ and Mg2+ in the growth crystal was measured by X-ray fluorescence.The defects structure of MgO:SLN was investigated by ultraviolet absorption spectra and infrared absorption spectra.The MgO:SLN crystal exhibited a shorter absorption edge wavelength.and the OH- infrared absorption band showed that the MgO doping concentration of the MgO:SLN crystal exceeded the optical damage resistance threshold concentration.The specific heat capacity of the crystal was measured to be 0.69 J/(g·K) and was higher than that of congruent LiNbO3(CLN) crystal 0.64 J/(g·K).关键词
