Abstract

Objective;To develop an by Enzyme-linked Immu nosorbent Assay (ELISA) by using specific genetic Treponema pallidum recombinant antigen ( TPN17 & TmpA) and evaluate its potential use in the serodiagnosis of Syphilis. Methods The expressed and purified specific antigen were coated microtiter plates, and esta blished the ELISA. The sensitivity, specificity and positive rates of the assay were determined by detecting standard reference syphilis sera, or the sera from patients and blood donors. In addition, we also investigated the positive rates in different population of the country. Results The sensitivity and specificity of the ELISA were both 100%. The identity of the ELISA and TPHA was significantl y higher(95.7%) than that of the RPR and TPHA(89.1%). The positive rate in the s era of the blood donors was 0.3%~0.69%, and it was much lower in normal sera.
