Abstract
AIM:Felodipine buccoadhesive tablets were prepared and evaluated.METHOD:Buccoadhesive tablets were prepared by direct compression of the mixture of felodipine,sodium bicarbonate and two polymers,hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (HPMC) and carbomer(CP) which served as the bioactive polymers.The surface pH,release and adhesive force in vitro were determined to investigate the characteristics of this novel preparation.The buccoadhesive ability,duration and irritation in vivo were also evaluated.RESULT:The release of felodipine was in accordance with the Super Case-Ⅱ transport release mechanism.The apparent release rate constant k was 3.3% per hour.Mean surface pH was 7.01 ± 0.11.Mean adhesive force between buccoadhesive tablets and chicken ingluvies was 181.35 ± 31.08 g which was satisfactory bioadhesive ability with human oral mucosa and caused little irritation.CONCLUSION:This kind of therapeutic system may be useful for buccal administration of felodipine.关键词
