Methoxylation of Non-activated Aromatic Bromides

Abstract
Syringaldehyde and vanillin were prepared from 35-dibromo-4-hydroxybenzaldehyde and 3-bromo-4-hydroxybenzaldehyde as starting materials,sodium methoxide as methoxylation agent,methanol as solvent,and cuprous chloride associated with dimethylformamide or carbon dioxide as catalysts with more than 90% yields.It provides a mild and efficient method for methoxylation of non-activated aromatic bromides without protecting the aldehyde function.The cuprous chloride-carbon dioxide catalyzed system releases heat smoothly and recovers purified methanol directly,and it is consistent with environmental protection.关键词
