Abstract
Objective To evaluate the possible relationship between plasma insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) and diabetic neuropathy (DNP) in type 2 diabetic patients.Methods Plasma concentrations of IGF-1,FBS,GHbA1C,fast C-peptide and postprandial C-peptide were measured in 115 cases of type 2 diabetes (22 with grade 0 DNP,56 with grade 1 DNP,25 with grade 2 DNP,12 with grade 3 DNP).Muscular electrometry was also performed.Plasma concentrations of IGF-1 were measured by immunoradioassay analysis.Results Plasma IGF-1 levles inversely correlated with the grades of DNP in type 2 diabetic patients (P<0.05).Patients with grade 1,2 or 3 of DNP had significant lower plasma IGF-1 concentration [(117.48±40.34) μg/ml,(115.61±35.48) μg/ml and (100.87±20.42) μg/ml,respectively] than that of grade 0 (145.42±57.70) μg/ml (P<0.05,P<0.05,P<0.01 respectively),while plasma IGF-1 concentrations had no significant differences among groups of grade 1,2 or 3.Conclusion Decreased plasma IGF-1 in type 2 diabetic patients may contribute to the pathogensis of neuropathy.关键词
