Abstract
Objective To evaluate the possible relationship between plasma insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) and diabetic neuropathy (DNP) in type 2 diabetic patients.Methods Plasma concentrations of IGF-1,FBS,GHbA1C,fast C-peptide and postprandial C-peptide were measured in 115 cases of type 2 diabetes (22 with grade 0 DNP,56 with grade 1 DNP,25 with grade 2 DNP,12 with grade 3 DNP).Muscular electrometry was also performed.Plasma concentrations of IGF-1 were measured by immunoradioassay analysis.Results Plasma IGF-1 levles inversely correlated with the grades of DNP in type 2 diabetic patients (P＜0.05).Patients with grade 1,2 or 3 of DNP had significant lower plasma IGF-1 concentration ［(117.48±40.34） μg/ml,（115.61±35.48） μg/ml and （100.87±20.42） μg/ml,respectively］ than that of grade 0 (145.42±57.70） μg/ml （P＜0.05,P＜0.05,P＜0.01 respectively）,while plasma IGF-1 concentrations had no significant differences among groups of grade 1,2 or 3.Conclusion Decreased plasma IGF-1 in type 2 diabetic patients may contribute to the pathogensis of neuropathy.关键词
