Abstract
Thirty-four isolates apparently belonging to Saccharomyces sensu lato yeast species were examined by pulsed-field gel electrophoresis karyotypes. High-degree polymorphism in chromosome size and number was observed. The number of chromosomes varies from eight to sixteen, but small chromosomes (<0.5 Mb) can be found only in Saccharomyces exiguss. The number and the size of Saccharomyces sensu lato yeast chromosomes are very dynamic. It is suggested that yeast chromosomes and its genome rapidly get reshaped during the evolutionary history.关键词
