Eliminating Input Current Harmonic of the Arc Welding Power Source Using AC Voltage-Elevating Method

Abstract
For the utility system,conventional arc welding power source isof essentially a rectifier load,line current containing many harmonic components.In this paper,high power harmonic elimination technique is introduced into the arc welding power source.An AC voltage-elevating circuit topology is proposed for the three phase power factor correction application for the first time.This topology consists of the three boost inductor placed in the AC side of the rectifier and three wye connected bi-directional switches.The harmonic eliminating performance of this topology is analyzed.Theoretically,it is validated by the computer simulation and experiments.The results show that,with this topology,a total harmonic distortion (THD) less than 5% can be easily achieved.关键词
