Abstract

(Hebei Institute of Architectural Science and Technology, Handan056038,China) Abstract: This paper analyzes the distribution and formation of Taiyuan area, Shanxi province. The research work shows that Dongshan and Xishan district were once a whole in Mesozoic located in the northwest part of Qinshui coal basin. The two districts were separated by the development of Taiyuan fault basin in Cenozoic. Tilting of foot wall (up throw block) of Qingjiao fault resulted in Xishan syncline. The difference of structures extends in Dongshan and Xishan districts were resulted from the anticlockwise rotations of or Dos basin.
