摘要

Abstract

The effects of silicon on growth of maize seedlings under salt stress are reported in the present paper. It showed that under salt stress silicon could increase activities of nitrate reducase (NR) and contents of proteins, increase photosynthesis rate and dry weight. Silicon treatment could also amend water metabolism and improve the water use efficiency of maize seedlings under salt stress. The treatment could also decrease plasma membrane permeability of maize roots, increase activity of roots. Silicon could restraint absorption of Na+ , but improve the absorption of K+ by maize seedlings under salt stress.
