PERFORMANCE OF MULTILATERAL WELL IN BOX-SHAPE RESERVOIR WITH NON-PERMEABILITY BOUNDARY

Abstract
A new analytic method for analyzing the behavior of multilateral well in box shape reservoir is presented on the basis of gransient point source function, Newman's product theorem, and superposition principle. According to the new formula,the performance of multilateral well in box-shape reservoir with non-permeability boundary is studied. The optimum number of branches, the effects of permeability anisotropy, and the relationship between the number of branches and the length of each branch are analyzed. The results of study show that there is no simple linear relationship between the number of branches and the oil production of a well. The favorable position of branches in a horizontal well is in the vertical direction of major permeable formation. With the same total length of lateral segments, increasing length of each branch in horizontal borehole has more effect on the increase of oil production than increasing numbers of branches.关键词
