Abstract
Objective:To explore the correlation between peritumoral edema on MRI ,vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)expression,microvessel density(MVD)and pathological grading in astrocytomas.Methods:33 cases of astrocytomas were proved by surgery and pathology and scanned by MRI before operation.Both VEGF expression level and MVD were evaluated immunohistochemically.Results:The pathologic grading of astrocytomas was positively correlated with its VEGF expression level.The peritumoral edema arid MVD were correlated significantly with VEGF expression level(P＜0.05 or P＜0.01).Conclusion:The VEGF expression level in astrocytomas was certainly correlated with its malignancy,MVD and peritumoral edema on MRI.Therefore,peritumoral edema on MRI could indirectly help to evaluate the malignant degree and prognosis of astrocytomas to a certain extend.关键词
