摘要

Abstract

In this paper, a new data model for a linear referencing system in geographic information systems for transportation (GIS-T) is presented. The newly developed data model has the advantage of generality and high precision. The conceptual data model of a linear referencing system is firstly analyzed, and then two key problems constructing a linear referencing model are investigated. The development of a road geometric featureoriented linear referencing datum is presented with least square adjustment method. An improved road curve feature-oriented dynamic segmentation model is further presented. Based on the theoretical studies, a GIS-T prototype system is developed. The implementation of the model in the prototype system is illustrated to support highway accident management and analysis.
