Abstract
This essay examines the underpinnings of infrastructure works as a way of understanding a future medium for open space systems within an urban fabric. The traditional understanding of infrastructure must look beyond the obvious typological definitions (roads, utilities, bridges, etc.) and begin to engage other networked and systematic programs such as the movement of pedestrians and bicyclists, flora, fauna and climate in an attempt to further maximize the diversity and distribution embedded in both. Studies in Landscape Urbanism and international case studies illuminate the progress made in recent years towards a more unified approach to planning and design, while Landscape Infrastructure is framed as a transition for the profession and the principles guiding its approach/application to real world issues and projects.关键词
