USING GRAVITATIONAL AND MAGNETIC CALCULATION TO INTERPRET THE EARTH’S CRUST CHARACTERISTICS OF THE MIDDLE PART OF THE SOUTH CHINA SEA
摘要
Abstract
This paper selects the middle part of the South China Sea(SCS)Basin where three subbasins are meeting as the study area.The earth’s crust characteristics are explained by using comprehensive analysis,which integrates geologic information with geophysical calculation that includes up-continuation calculation of the gravity and magnetic fields as well as the modeling and inversion of gravity field.The crust structure of this area is very complicated.All three types of crust can be found here.The rock formation and crust structure of seamounts are not all the same.There are both young oceanic basaltic seamounts and “two-fold”seamounts that consist of the continental basalt.It is believed in this paper that the formation of SCS may be the result of several mechanisms’ interactions.The southwest and northwest sea basins were formed earlier than the central sea basin.关键词
