Abstract
BACKGROUND: Vascular Parkinsonism(VP) is called "senile tremor" in Chinese medicine, but there is fewer reports concerning the research of Chinese medicine on improvement of motor function in VP patients.OBJECTIVE: To observe the therapeutic effects of guiling pa' an wan on improvement of motor function in VP patients.DESIGN: Controlled trial study based on diagnosis.SETTING, SUBJECTS and INTERVENTION: Ninety VP patients were collected in Henan Hospital of traditional Chinese Medicine from July 1997to July 2003, which never took Madopar preparation, verified by CT or MRI. They were divided at random(by lot-casting method) into treatment group and control group after permission. In both groups, mai luo ning zhu she ye(the injection for tranquilizing meridians) 30 mL mixed with glucose injection 250 mL/L or physiological saline 250 mL was applied for intravenous drip, once per day. In treatment group, guiling pa' an wan was provided, 6 g each time and 3 times per day. In the control, there was no any oral-taken medicine. One month made a course. In both groups, the medicines for lowing blood pressure, lowing blood sugar and antiplatelet agglutination were taken continuously.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Standard Function evaluation table for Parkinsonism(Ⅲ)and scores of partial motor examination (UPDRS Ⅲ).RESULTS: Scores of UPDRS Ⅲ in two groups: [treatment group: before treatment(47.65 ± 4.26)scores, after treatment(25.22 ± 3.85)scores; control group: before treatment (46. 31 ± 3.98) scores, after treatment(34.63 ±3.65 )scores]. In treatment group, the decreasing amplitude of UPDRS score decrease was remarkably more than that in the control( t = - 1 1. 079, P ＜0.01 ) . There was more significant difference in the comparison before and after treatment in each group itself( t = 28. 428, 12. 978, P ＜ 0.01). The total improving rate of comprehensive therapeutic effects in treatment group was 83%, which was remarkably higher than the total improving rate of 58%in the control(P ＜ 0. 01).CONCLUSION: Guiling pa' an wan remarkably improves motor function in VP patients.关键词
