Influence of acupuncture on leptin and insulin resistance in simple obesity
摘要
Abstract
AIM:To study the function of acupuncture on the leptin and insulin resistance in simple obesity. METHODS:The techniques of RT-PCR and Northern Blot were adopted to test the gene expression of OB-R and the radioimmunoassay was used to test the serum and hypothalamus leptin and insulin in order to observe the changes of serum leptin, insulin and lipide in simple obesity patients and the changes of weight,Lee's index,somatic fat,the contents of serum and hypothalamus leptin and insulin as well as the expression of hypothalamus OB-R gene in obesity rats before and after acupuncture treatment. RESULTS:The levels of leptin,insulin(INS),total cholesterol(TC), triglyceride(TG),and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C) in simple obesity patients were obvious higher than those in the normal group.But the level of high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol(HDL-C) was obviously lower than that of the normal group.After acupuncture treatment,the levels of leptin,INS,TC,TG,and LDL-C of patients were obviously reduced,and the level of HDL-C was obviously increased.This was related to the therapeutic effect of acupuncture. The obesity rats' weight,Lee's index,somatic fat,serum leptin and INS were all obviously higher than those of the normal rats,but the levels of the hypothalamus leptin and insulin and OB-R gene expression were all obviously lower than those of the normal rats.With acupuncture,the weight was lost,at the same time,the levels of the serum leptin and insulin of obesity rats were obviously decreased,while the level of the hypothalamus leptin and insulin and OB-R gene expression were obviously increased. CONCLUSIONS:The function of acupuncture in regulation of the central and peripheral leptin and insulin levels and in promotion of the hypothalamus OB-R gene expression of the obesity patients may be the important mechanism in correcting the leptin and insulin resistance and the abnormal endocrine metabolism.关键词
