Effect of huashi decoction on plasm superoxide dismutase and malondialdehyde in patients with spleen-stomach damp syndrome

Abstract
AIM:To discuss the changes of plasm superoxide dismutase(SOD) and malondialdehyde(MDA) in patients with spleen-stomach damp syndrome with greasy fur and their effects in strengthening the spleen and removing dampness. METHODS:Plasm SOD and MDA of patients with white-greasy and yellow-greasy fur were detected using tube barbituric acid(TBA) and radioimmunoassay(RIA) methods,respectively;the effects of strengthening the spleen and removing dampness were observed. RESULTS:The levels of plasm SOD in patients with white and yellow greasy fur[(102.47± 11.03) μ mol/L and(104.68± 12.84) μ mol/L] were lower than those of thin-white fur in normal(121.95± 13.66) μ mol/L.The levels of plasm MDA increased obviously[yellow-greasy fur: (6.12± 0.72), (5.92± 0.67) μ mol/L;thin-white fur:( 4.28± 0.61) μ mol/L](t=3.12,2.87,P< 0.01).Both of them had parallel relation to the thickness of greasy fur.Huashi decoction could improve dampness and greasy fur,increase plasm SOD levels but decrease plasm MDA levels. CONCLUSION: Formation of greasy fur is related to free radical injury. The therapeutic mechanism of huashi decoction may be related to clearing oxygen-derived free radicals and preventing oxidative injury.关键词
