摘要

Abstract

Dense silicon carbide ceramics were prepared by hot press (liP) and pressureless sintering methods and liquid phase sin-tering with AIN and Re2O3 (Re2O3-Y2O3 and La2O3) as sintering additives. The composition of the starting samples is 80% SiC and20% sintering additives (AIN and Re2O3) in mass; the mole ratio of AIN to (La0.5Y0.5) O3 is 2:1.The test results show the mechanicsproperties of the liP liquid phase sintered (LPS) SiC ceramics are much better than that of pressureless sintered LPS SiC ceramics.The HP LPS-SiC ceramic at 1 850℃ for 0.5 h in N2 pressure of 30 MPa has a bending strength >800 MPa, and a fracture toughnessshows elongated crystal grain structure, and its fracture mode is intergranular fracture.
