Numerical simulation of water flow over an oscillating hydrofoil using Realizable k-ε turbulence model

Abstract
Water flow over an oscillating hydrofoil is simulated numerically by using Realizable k-ε turbulence model employed in the computational fluid dynamics software Fluent. The finite volume method is applied in solving the Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations. The second-order upwind scheme is used in the spatial discretization. The SIMPLEC algorithm is selected for velocity-pressure correction and iterative solution of the discretized equations. Some numerical results from the method in this paper are compared and validated with previous results available. The effects of several parameters on the force and flow structure around the oscillating hydrofoil are investigated. It is found that the oscillating amplitude and frequency have significant effects on the vortex formation, shedding and force characteristics under certain angle of attack.关键词
