According to analysis of the lightning protection practice of Metal Oxide Surge Arresters on the Guangdong 110 kV and 220 kV Transmission Lines in recent years, the positive effectiveness of Metal Oxide Surge Arresters on lowering the lightning stroke tripp efficiency has been preliminarily affirmed. The existing issues in the site-selection, installation and maintenance are discussed, the beneficial suggestions for popularizationis also presented.
