Abstract
The South China Sea is of special tectonic setting and the Tertiary reefs mainly develop in the Cenozoic basins located in northern，southern and western margins of it．The relationship between the distribution of the reefs and the paleostructure and the paleoenvironment when the Tertiary reefs were growing has been discussed in this paper．It is confirmed that the location of these reefs were distinctly controlled by the paleostructure．The reefs in the northern margin were obviously distributed along the positive tectonic zones trending NE．In the western margin，they exist roughly on the upper sides of the large strike-slip extensional faults．And in the southern，their developments depended upon features of the basement．The growth and distribution of these reefs were also influenced by large river systems at that time．All these are of great significance for the future exploration of the reef reservoirs in the South China Sea．关键词
