Abstract
The recent testing methods for metal oxide surge arresters without gaps (WGMOA) are transplanted from those for SiC arresters, but the working conditions of WGMOA under operating voltage of power systems are quite different from those of SiC arresters (SiCA). The testing methods valid for SiCA may not necessary be so for
WGMOA.In this paper three "wrongly taken" items are put forward as examples of this misunderstanding:①The impulse current of 8/20 μs has been wrongly taken as the standard waveform of lightning current;②The accelerated aging test of metal oxide resistors has been wrongly taken as their lifetime test;③The operation duty test of SiCA has been wrongly taken as that for WGMOA.This paper reminds people to understand recent testing methods correctly, getting rid of misunderstanding, and to pay attention to updating testing methods.关键词
