Abstract

To seek an appropriate algorithm is an important task for microprocessor-based protective relaying. The aim of this paper is to seek a “best” algorithm which can meet the need of both accuracy and speed from the literatures home and abroad. For this purpose, a lot of simulation calculations are carried out, then the calculation speed of diversified algorithms and the accuracy of the results are compared. In this paper firstly the calculation method for signals including aperiodic component based on the algorithms such as the Fourier algorithm and the improved Fourier algorithm, Kalman filter algorithm and recursive least square algorithm are given, the source of errors and the characteristics of frequency spectrum are analyzed, the frequency responses of various algorithms are presented, then the simulation calculations are performed. Under different sampling rate 12point/cycle, 20point/cycle and 40point/cycle, the comparison calculations for calculation precision and speed of the applied algorithms are carried out by 80P51XA 16-bit single chip computer, and the claulation results are given. Thereby, the conclusion is obtained: under the sampling rate of 20 point/cycle the compensated Fourier algorithm would be the best combining algorithm.
