Experiment on the Seed Germination of Blackberry

摘要

Abstract

[Objective]The purpose was to screen out a better germination method for cultivating and breeding blackberry. [Method]With the full seeds from ripe and fresh fruits of blackberry cultivars as materials, they were treated by 3 different methods: A, the endocarp on radiculodium was peeled and the seed coat and endosperm layer were remained;B, the endocarp on endosperm end was peeled and the seed coat and endosperm layer were remained;C, non-peeled. Then, the germination enperiment was performed on the blackberry seeds by 3 culture methods. [Result]In the light culture with double-layer wet filter paper, the seed germination rates in both Treatment A and B were about 40% and there was no seed germinated in Treatment C. In the dark culture with double-layer wet filter paper, the seed germination rates in both Treatment A and B were higher than 61%, their highest germination rate was up to 63.6% and there was no seed germinated in Treatment C. The highest germination rate of seeds cultured on medium was 15.1%. The transplanting survival rates of germule seedlings grown from seeds treated by different methods were 100%. In the culture on medium, the hormone concentration combination had no effect on the seed germination rate of blackberry. [Conclusion]The dark culture with double-layer wet filter paper was an ideal germination method for blackberry seeds.
