摘要

Abstract

Objective To investigate the relation of apoptosis-related genes with apoptosis of rat pancreatic islet cells due to high fat diet. Methods Apoptotie cells were identified by TUNEL assay, mRNA levels of bcl-2 and Bax were evaluated by immunohistochemical staining. Results High level of fat diet increased the proportion of the apoptotic cell. In the process of apoptosis, mRNA level of Bax increased significantly, while bcl-2mRNA expression decreased. Conclusions High fat diet may induce and exacer-bate diabetes through inducing apoptosis of the islet cells. The change in the ratio of bel-2/Bax mRNA expression may play an important role in apoptosis.
