Abstract

A new process (DVH) for separating the liquid extract of natural polysaccharides was proposed.The distillation process which separates ethanol from the extract and the evaporation process which concentrates the remained polysaccharide solution were integrated into a single column by introducing a vapor side withdraw in a position near the bottom . With a heat pump (steam-jet pump), the latent heat of side withdraw was integrated into reboiler. The above means reduces an evaporator and saves obviously energy consumption comparing to the traditional process. A steady-state simulation with Aspen Plus shows that the steam consumption under stable operation decreases by more than 34%. In the present work, the startup strategy and corresponding operation schedule were designed for DVH integrated system and the dynamical behavior of the system in startup stage was simulated and analyzed with Aspen Custom Modeler and Aspen Dynamics,which verifies the feasibility of the strategy and gives the profiles of system state variables with time and the better operation parameters. Finally, by optimizing the time schedule and concentration of withdrawing products,waste drainage in startup stage was eliminated completely, which gives advantages in process economics and environment protection.
