Abstract
Starting from the calculation of flood release capacity, several schemes for separation of Huaihe River and Hongze Lake were compared. The measured flood data were compared, and the relevant benefit analysis was performed. It was put forward that the recovery of the thalweg elevation of Huaihe River would result in considerable storm drainage and significant release benefits of the sea channels. The resistance loss of sedimentation in Hongze Lake was the essential cause for the too low standards of flood control and drainage of Huaihe River. The scientific and long-term solution would be the scheme with the optimum social and economic benefits of flood release, sediment transport and shipping and with the least environmental impact. Accordingly, the planning and relevant recommendations were proposed for the separation of Huaihe River and Hongze Lake.关键词
