BDCGrid: a Globus-based Computational Grid for High-Performance Bioinformatic Computing

Abstract
With the rapid increase of data in biological sciences, bioinformatics faces the great challenge of large scale, high-throughput and intensive computing. Here, we developed a bioinformatic computational grid system-Biological Data Computing Grid ( BDCGrid) based on the Globus Toolkit middleware. BDCGrid utilizes computers in medium and small size bioinformatic laboratory effectively, cuts short the necessary time-length for implementation of high-throughput bioinformatic analysis tools including BLAST, FASTA, HMMER. BDCGrid could offer a new solution for the large-scale, high-throughput bioinformatic computing by using existent computational resources.关键词
