Abstract

With the rapid development of various wireless technologies, the shortage of frequency spectrum resource will become more serious. The Federal Communications Commission announced that more than 70% of radio spectrums are underutilised in certain times or geographic regions,so it is urgent to improve the utilisation rate of the frequency spectrum. Cognitive radio technology can effectively overcome this problem by perceiving and detecting the available spectrum resources through spectrum interception, so that users can use the resources of the authorized users without interfering them in the way of managing and coordinating these resources. First, in this paper we introduce the IEEE 802.22 technology,and then propose a fast spectrum interception algorithm which is based on discrete wavelet packet transform and a hardware design scheme. Finally, we verify our algorithm by simulations, and the simulation results show that the algorithm has good performance.
