Abstract
The immature conglomerate-bearing sandstone strata were more than 400 m thick in the early transgression period of the Mesoproterozoic. The Member 1 of the Changzhougou Formation was once explained as a series of fluvial facies sequence. However, the actual data from the Jixian section indicate that a new understanding to the explanation of preresearchers needs to be made. In the conglomerate-bearing sandstone of the bottom of the Changzhougou Formation at the Jixian section, the occurrence of bimodal cross beddings and frequent development of scouring surfaces indicated the sedimentary character of tidal process. This cognition denied “fluvial transgression” which was derived from the improper concept that the spacious rivers appeared during the early transgression, and indirectly indicated the tectonic background,that the crust of the North China Craton was not stable and was improper to deposit the 400 m thick fluvial strata at the same time. Therefore, a new understanding about the “fluvial deposition” of the Early Mesooproterozoic provided a new inspiration and important actual data for reconstruction of palaeogeography.关键词
