Abstract

The heat transfer and flow friction performance of 5 twisted elliptical tubes with different screw pitch and smooth tube were tested on the basis of designed vapor-water exchange experimental apparatus. The change trend of Nnsselt number, the friction factor, the comprehensive function evaluation factor, and Reynolds number of innertube liquid of 5 twisted elliptical tubes with different screw pitch and smooth tube were compared. The results indicate that the heat transfer of twisted elliptical tubes are more effective. The shorter screw pitch it is, the better heat transfer enhancement it is. The Nusselt number of the twisted tube is about 1.05-1.4 times that of smooth tube, and the friction factor of the twisted tube is about 1.1-1.4 times that of smooth tube in a testing range of Reynolds number. Based on the experimental data, the empirical criterion equation of heat transfer and pressure drop inside tube is ruled out, which can be referred in engineering design.
