Abstract
Objective To explore correlations between vascular endothelial growth factor ( VEGF) expression and clinicopathological factors in epithelial ovarian carcinoma ( EOC) and analyze the significance of VEGF expression in prognosis of patients with EOC. Methods The expression of VEGF in normal ovaries tissues ( n = 10) , benign epithelial ovarian tumor ( EOT)tissues ( n = 20) and EOC tissues ( n = 50) were detected by the immunohistochemistry method. The correlations among VEGF expression and clinicopathological factors, prognostic parameters were analyzed. Results The positive rates of VEGF expression ( 82. 0％ ) were higher in EOC tissues than those in benign EOT tissues ( 45. 0％ ) and normal ovaries tissues ( 30. 0％ ) , and VEGF expression was significant correlated with clinical stage, differentiation degree and lymph node metastasis in EOC tissues ( P ＜ 0. 05 ) , Further analysis showed that the recurrence rate was higher and the five-year recurrence time was shorter in patients with positive for VEGF than in those with negative for VEGF ( P ＜ 0. 05 ) . Conclusion VEGF expression is closely associated with the occurrence and development of EOC. VEGF expression is valuable parameters for predicting the prognosis of patients with EOC.关键词
