摘要

Abstract

Based on the previous studies of auditory function measurement and cochlear morphological evaluation in BALB/c mice of different age, the expression and distribution of methyl-CpG-binding protein 2 ( MeCP2 ) in the cochlea of BALB/c mice were identified and compared among four age groups (3-, 6-, 12- and 18-month- old) by the immunohistochemical technique, which threw light on the effects of MeCP2 in the aging process of auditory system.The expression of MeCP2 was detected in the immunohistochemical staining study, predominantly in the cell nuclei.With monthly added age of the mice the positive staining was found to be weaker and the proportion of the positive cells was lower.The decrease of the MeCP2 expression level in the cochlea was correlated with the degree of aging, which indicates that MeCP2 may play an important role in the aging process of auditory system.
